María del Rosario Mercedes Pilar Martínez Molina Baeza professionally known by her stage name Charo, was born today in 1951 in Spain. An actress, comedian, and flamenco guitarist. She has appeared in many television shows over the years. In 1977 she became an American citizen. She is a huge supporter of LGBT equality. Do not let her flamboyant stage presence, her provocative outfits fool you...for she is one very smart and talented woman. She is happily married and has one grown son. She is well known for her trademark phrase cuchi-cuchi. Nowdays she performs mostly in Branson, Missouri, and Las Vegas, and on various cruise ships. I had the wonderful experience of seeing her perform once in Las Vegas, and meeting her afterwards.
