Good evening - a afternoon thaw was welcome. The thermometer in the city rose above 32° for nearly 5 hours. Only a handful of hours in the past 11 days have been this warm. Care of a southwest wind and sunshine, the city made a 23 degree jump from the morning low of 13 to 36. Other area temp rebounds included 29° Lafayette and 28° in Peru. At 8 PM the trend remains warmer (over 20°) from the same time Wednesday. The thaw and warming trend is slowed Friday. Dont get to discouraged to find clouds and fog to start the day. A southbound moving cold front will reach the city around sunrise shifting the wind ti the northwest. There will be cooler air Friday. The same front will retreat as a warm front by Saturday morning. Strong southwest winds here along with partly cloudy days should elevate temps to the warmest levels here since the 3rd of the month when we reached the low 50s.
