Good evening Bushmaster Family and Friends, and welcome to Week 8 of Basic Combat Training. Only 10 more days until Family Day... 11 until Graduation! This week is the final Field Week for your soldiers, and actually the final week of training before graduation! Today was Veterans Day, and they had a low-keyed maintenance day. Tomorrow they head for the field and wont return until Friday. During the course of this week they will train in position security, force-on-force engagements, Night Land Navigation, Urban Operations, the dreaded 16KM Tactical March, and then on Friday morning at 5:00 a.m. they wrap it up with their Rights of Passage, where, having completed all requirements, they change from the patrol cap to the black Army Beret. The remainder of Friday will be for recovery from the field and preparation for Inspection Period 4 on Tuesday. This will also be one of the last posts that I will be making on the Battery page because I will be thoroughly engaged in getting your soldiers paperwork and packets ready to ship with them after graduation. If there are any last minute changes to our schedule (which I do not expect to happen), I will let everyone know here on the page, otherwise, I look forward to meeting everyone at Family Day or on Graduation Day.
