Good evening Dragoon friends and family, it’s mid-week and we - TopicsExpress

Good evening Dragoon friends and family, it’s mid-week and we are moving right along conducting our world-class training preparing your loved ones for the most challenging and rewarding experience of their lives. Temperatures continue to creep up a bit, and we still expect some snow tonight however it should all be melted by tomorrow afternoon. All in all though, conditions aren’t too terribly bad for this time of year and we should be grateful for things being as mild as they are. And now for the update: Alpha Company (Week 10): Alpha Rock is in their third day of FTX III and things are going very well. I went out to the local training area today and visited with them to check on the training and to see how things were going. I am happy to report that they are getting in some excellent training and learning quite a lot. They all executed a series of deliberate missions all day yesterday, and after the sun went down they spent the night conducting raids and ambushes under cover of darkness. This morning they conducted After Action Reviews, some mission rehearsals, and then set out again this afternoon on follow-up operations. This will continue on until tomorrow evening when we roll into their Rite of Passage Ceremony. Bravo Company (Week 6): The Bulldogs went to Range 20 where each of them engaged single untimed targets at various ranges with an M-4 carbine. This gets the trainees accustomed to firing at targets spaced out at different distances. Once they have this mastered they can then move on to engaging multiple targets for time. Delta Company (Week 6): Dawg Company executed Rifle Marksmanship Period 7 where they engaged single and multiple targets in the Engagement Skills Trainer. This is another important step that each of them must take within a simulator before making an attempt at it on a range with live ammunition. It’s getting down to the wire and next week each of them will have to qualify on their individual weapon. This is a graduation requirement and a stressful one at that. We feel confident however that each of them will be successful. Foxtrot Company (Graduation Week): The Warriors are currently out with their loved ones enjoying a pass for Family Day. Tomorrow is the big day and I look forward to seeing them walk the stage at Baker Theater! Command Sergeant Major Cunningham and I are definitely looking forward to attending Foxtrot Company’s graduation tomorrow. This is one event that we feel proud to participate in, seeing the end product after ten weeks of hard work. For those that are here for the ceremony, please take some time to introduce yourselves to your loved one’s Drill Sergeants and cadre and take the opportunity to meet with them. They are tremendous professionals who take great pride into turning citizens into Soldiers. Everyone have a wonderful evening. Lieutenant Colonel Gries Dragoon 6
