Good evening FB! Today, I am meditating on the word EXHORTATION. Exhortation is a gift of the Holy Spirit whereby one is blessed with the ability to encourage others in the godly way. It is a very vital part of our spiritual experience as Christians. It is mentioned as a "by-product" of prophesying. (Ref. scripture- 1 Corinthians 14:3) By the grace one is given by the Holy Spirit to exhort, it is expected that he or she, as a born again believer in Jesus Christ, will use this gift in humbleness. Exhortation is a spiritual urging to follow our Lord God through obeying His commandments, loving and assisting others through uplift, and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ to one and all! “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” Jude 3 One example of exhortation in the Holy Word was the discipleship work of Apostle Peter: “And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, save yourselves from this untoward generation.” Acts 2:40 Peter was ministering to the people to turn away from worldly sin and follow or Lord in mind, body, but most importantly in spirit. As God fearing Christians (Psalm 34:9) through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, we are commanded to exercise the power of exhortation: “Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.” 1 Thessalonians 5:14 Believer, use the gift of exhortation as a ministry to encourage others to do something for their personal good, spiritual growth, and grace-enabled godliness each and EVERYDAY! Everyone have a very blessed evening!
