Good evening Southland... I am the proud son of Lieutenant - TopicsExpress

Good evening Southland... I am the proud son of Lieutenant James F. Deuser, Ret. My father, now in heaven, lied about his age and joined the United States Marine Corps so that he could get into the tale end of WWII. He would go on to serve during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. All told, he served a little more than 22 years in the USMC before retiring. At one point, my dad was the youngest officer in the Marine Corps. Not bad for a kid who never finished high school. My father was buried with full honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery 12 years ago. You would think I, of all people, would celebrate Memorial Day like I celebrate Christmas or Easter. NOPE...NOT ME! I USED to hate Memorial Day because it marked the beginning of summer which marked the beginning of church people disappearing for three months to the Yogi Berra and Boo Boo camp grounds... Or to Camp Give-me-Rocky-Mountain-Spotted-Fever-Tick-Disease recreational park...Or to Fungus and Toe-Jam Water Resort in the Wisconsin Dells... Or any other one of a thousand destinations on Sundays EXCEPT CHURCH. But Ive learned to not only accept that EVERYONE needs a break now and then, but after a winter like we just experienced here in Chicago, I HOPE ALL OF YOU GET A CHANCE TO GETAWAY THIS SUMMER. For those of you sticking around with me, this Sunday we will honor all of our old and current vets and I will continue our study on the Fruit of the Spirit: JUICY FRUIT #1: LOVE! I hope and I pray that this first fruit...LOVE... has been an eye opener for you. If the texts and emails and Facebook messages are any indication, it has been. Love you all... See you Sunday (HOPEFULLY)... Pastor J Unbelief I’m not consoled by unbelief. Without the Lord there’s no relief, No hope, no reason to exist, No sin too grievous to resist. No forgiveness from above Would make a cripple out of love. We’d all be hobbling around Without a chance of being found. A heathen host is all we’d be, All with the right to disagree, To take the helm of a hell-bound yacht And feverishly steer for naught. For over the falls the ship must go If there’s no God in heaven to know. There is no remedy in this: Eternity in the abyss. Ed Havey
