Good evening everyone. First thing tonight is to clear up - TopicsExpress

Good evening everyone. First thing tonight is to clear up something. Over the past couple days a model map has been parading its way around the internet showing 10-16 of snow for northern GA. These maps are incorrect. The reason is because they are not taking into account temperatures at cloud level. In order for snow to fall, you need temperatures at or below freezing where the snow forms, and the viral model maps did not take into account that it was too warm at that level (commonly referred to as the 850mb level). Verbatim that particular, 8-day forecast from that one specific model run was actually freezing rain, but that idea has since been dropped by that model and it is now showing nothing more than a cold rain next Saturday/Sunday. Hopefully this clears up any confusion regarding that forecast. Now to our weather. I hope you are enjoying this warmer weather! It looks to hang around through tomorrow though rain is likely as we head through the overnight tomorrow with cooler air and a wedge working into the area on Monday. Rain and drizzle will stay likely on and off through Wednesday before brief clearing ahead of our next system due in over the weekend. So, heres the forecast for now: Overnight: Cloudy. Lows from the upper-20s to mid-30s. Sunday: Cloudy with scattered showers late. Highs from the upper-50s to mid-60s. Sunday night: Rain likely. Lows around 50º. Monday: Rain likely early, then clearing briefly late, with temperatures steady in the low/mid-50s. Total rainfall of 1-2 possible. Monday night: Increasing clouds with scattered showers/drizzle. Temperatures failing into the low/mid-40s. Tuesday: Cloudy with showers likely. Temperatures steady in the low/mid-40s. Tuesday night: Cloudy with showers likely. Temperatures steady in the low/mid-40s. Wednesday: Rain likely with highs in the low/mid-50s. Wednesday night: Clearing with lows from the mid-20s to low-30s. Everyone have a great Sunday and enjoy the warm weather!~TW
