Good evening everyone, I know it’s late, but this is my "Quiet Time" I just wanted to touch base with those of you that were not able to make the Rolling Green Association quarterly meeting last night. We had a great turn out, Great Speakers with Great topics that were discussed. Just a few things I would like to point out... When our Community Service Officer (CSO) Officer Fricke, was going over the crime stats, I was taken shocked by how many Burglaries to Vehicles we had in September, and that there were some valuable items left in Vehicles. Please, Please, PLEASE take your valuables OUT OF YOUR vehicles!!! (Don’t mean to scream) This makes you a number 1 target... CSO Fricke did state that the vehicles that were burglarized were parked on the street. Now, I know people have to park in the street, I get that. Please take your valuables out. Your purse, laptops, GPS units are hot right now, Take them out of your vehicle, medications were on the list of items stolen as well. Anything that is of value, Take it out! The Next thing is, Residential Burglaries: There were a number of residential burglaries in the area. No suspect information is available at this time; however, these burglars are gaining access to the homes by unlocked windows. Screens have been cut, and/or removed. Please make sure your windows and doors are secured before you leave and before you go to bed. For those of you that do not know this, Rockford Police Department does have a program that helps you make your home uninviting to burglars. Here is the information. Please make that phone call if you would like for them to help you. After the survey has been completed please let Rolling Green Association know if you need help with anything. Send us an email. We do have a few people that have offered to volunteer with lighting and Lawn care. I do have their contact information. Please share this information with your neighbors. Home Security Surveys The Rockford Police Community Services unit would like to help you make your home or business an uninviting target for burglars. Police Officers, certified as Level II Crime Prevention Specialists, are available to conduct a security survey of your home or business. During this survey officers will prepare a written report and provide you with recommendations for increased security. These officers are able to provide tips on the obvious things such as locks and lighting as well as suggesting ways to landscape your property in such a way that it encourages criminals to "move on" to an easier target. Whether you have an existing home or are considering building a new one, we encourage you take advantage of this free service by calling the Community Services Unit at 987-5041 and scheduling an appointment. (Rockford Police Department) Finally, The Events that we would like to get going before the end of this year but could use some extra hands to me them happen. If you’re interested please send an email to us and let us know which committee you would like to volunteer for. 1. Holiday Vendor Fair: If you are an Independent Consultant for Avon, Mary Kay, Thirty One, etc... Or if you make homemade crafts that you sell, this would be for you! We would like to have a vendor fair before Christmas. 2. Winter Events: We discussed lighting trees on East gate Parkway, kind of like Sinnissippi Park does. Snowmen in the Park (Harmon Park) Have families get together and build snowmen in the park. 3. Hobby Groups: We would like for people to bring their ideas on starting a group for hobbies. Such as, A Book club, Learn about Computers, Knitting, Walking/Running groups, Scrapbooking, etc... 4. Newsletter: Rolling Green would like to start a newsletter. We would like at least 2 people to create the newsletter. We also need volunteers to hand deliver the newsletters to those that do not have email access. 5. Rolling Green Safety Committee: This is an "Observe and Report" Group ONLY! Doug Finke will be setting a meeting in a few weeks, to discuss our plans. If you have any interest in joining or starting a group please send us an email and let us know which group you are willing to help with or any ideas you may have.
