Good evening everyone! I thought Id share a rare photo of Owen - TopicsExpress

Good evening everyone! I thought Id share a rare photo of Owen and O-Jay within 3 feet of each other and not fighting. They were at it a lot this morning but surprisingly, not this evening. My sweet boys can be quite devilish when they want to be, thats for sure. Separately, they are just darlings and as laid back as they can be, but as soon as they are together, the hissing begins and Ive noticed lately that Owen does most of the instigating. O-Jay gets picked on by him and Jezzie now, poor guy. It seems as though my newest feral Gus is making his way into the colony without too much fuss. He was seen twice today, eating with Jezzie and Lois. Although the girls didnt eat at the same time as he did, they stayed nearby while he ate and nobody got upset. I managed to get a shot of the 3 of them just as he was leaving the feeding station. I was pleasantly surprised. Im hoping that with time, Gus will feel more comfortable and that the others will accept him and let him eat at the same time. They used to do that with Black Butt, bless his heart, and every once in awhile he would join the crowd and eat with them. I miss Black Butt, despite that he was not very friendly. I think about him often and wonder what happened to him. He was such an odd cat, sitting outside in 30 degree weather, while it rained, getting soaking wet and not realizing at all that this was not necessary nor was it a good thing for him. I truly believe that this sort of thing is what made him so sick. A friend of mine sent him his very own shelter and he never once got in it. I dressed it up with warm blankets and straw and he still was not interested. I am hoping that the new ferals, Gus and Charlie will have enough sense to seek shelter this winter and at least try to stay as healthy as they can. Time wll tell I suppose. Its interesting getting to know them and their little quirks and purrsonalities. While they are both very feral, at least they do seem to understand that I will provide them with food and water and if I do nothing else, at least I will know I fed them for another day and gave them nourishment and a drink of clean water. Anyway, I apologize if Im babbling tonight. Im very tired after spending the afternoon in a swimming pool. The pool was recently repaired with a brand new liner installed and the liner is very dark and hence the water was nearly bath-water warm. Not as refreshing as I had hoped on a day that sported nearly 100 F. It was still fun hanging out with family members, but I was looking forward to cooling off more than I did. Oh well, it was a relaxing afternoon either way but the sun and heat do make one very tired. So, on that note, I bid you all a goodnight, and wish you a great Friday! 🐱
