Good evening, friends. After an afternoon of rest and recovery I wanted to take this time to share an update. Well, I have good news and frustrating news to share. This is detailed information, forgive me if you are squeamish. I had a Cytoscopy (bladder scope) done this morning, which revealed a few things 1) The wall of my bladder looks normal and healthy (no abnormal cells or growth) Obviously this is very good news as they can rule out with a high level of certainty a number of things including stones, bladder tumors, and bladder cancer 2) No schistosomes (water-born parasites) were found. THIS is the perplexing/frustrating part as my doctors were fairly certain (based on my history of travel in Africa, my lab work and CT scan) that we would find them there. This leaves us with more questions, I’m afraid. 3) We are still waiting for some outstanding blood work drawn this past weekend which may reveal schistosomes. I hope to get those results by the end of the week. The pain is not going away, and has become transient in nature and fluctuates in severity from day to day. I will be meeting with my doctor and my urologist in the coming weeks to discuss the next step. I might have to also see a neurologist now, due to the nature of the pain. The journey continues...I feel like I have been in a constant state of prayer over the past 3 months. I ask God continue to guide this process as I move in the direction of answers. Thank you again for all of your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes during this time...I cannot adequately express how much it means to me. Peace, my friends!
