Good evening, friends. Today is December 1 and as is the - TopicsExpress

Good evening, friends. Today is December 1 and as is the practice, I have seen many wish their friends and loved ones, happy new month. Soon, 2013 will end, and we will begin to chorus, Happy New Year. I understand the need to wish each other well, even to pray for one another. However, a few months ago, as the new month greetings came into my phone and I got set to respond, I paused. I asked myself, What was my intent in sending those greetings? Prayers? Had I given thought to the words I was typing? Had I given thought in any way to the people I was sending the messages to? Or was I just taking advantage of technology that now enables me with a click, to send a message, mechanically to many people? What was a new month greeting? Even a new year greeting? Perhaps you have wondered about this too. Please tell me, what you know. What is the origin of new year greetings, and now new month greetings? What is the intent in exchanging the words we use at these times? Do you read every such message that you receive? Do you sometimes feel overloaded/overwhelmed when so many of such messages come in to your phone?
