Good evening good folks! As the sun goes down the call of our newest homestead animal inevitably increases in volume - listen to those GUINEAS! Thanks to a dear friend, four guineas arrived at the homestead sanctuary last week. We are looking forward to having them around to help control some of the insect populations - namely stink bugs and japanese beetles - that got way out of control this season. That, of course, is our logical left brain speaking. Our right brain gets just as much, if not more, say so around here! Our guineas could simply continue walking around looking like tiny prehistoric flying creatures and we would be sufficiently fulfilled and amused. They are so much fun to interact with! Now for the market update...this weeks update has shifted just a bit as our cherry tomatoes have become something of a bumper crop this year! We will have lots of sungold and black cherry tomatoes with us tomorrow. =) Our bellies have been putting them to good use in the form of cherry tomato, basil, and malabar spinach salads. Yum! We will have bags of malabar spinach, as well as basil, available tomorrow if youd like to try it out. Well also have our farm foraged sautee mix, summer squash (zapallo del tronco and patti pan), okra, a replenished supply of luffa sponges, lots of useful perennial plants, egyptian walking onion sets, and our herbal tincture formulas. Oh yes, and if you have made it to the bottom of this long list, well tease you with the possibility of some wild harvested chanterelle mushrooms that may find their way into the spread tomorrow! (alex is out mushroom hunting as we we speak so cross your fingers that he finds enough to share!)
