Good evening one and all. Weather check: Low of 1 high of 13 degrees. Egg Count: 3/3 Solar input:2.6Kwh (today) Electricity used: 1.6Kwh (past 24hrs) As we mention yesterday about the raised beds we made. Today we filled them with soil. We measured the size of the beds after we filled them and they are 2.5 cubic meters. Average weight of soil per cubic meter is 1600kg (Googled answers, not me making it up). That makes 4 tons of soil shifted today. My calculations we about 2-3 ton, this was based on the weight of water. The wheel barrow did groan under the strain a little. Will have to give Barney the barrow some tlc/maintenance. The soil we obtained from two places on the holding. Firstly we dug a drainage ditch from the bottom of the veg garden to the stream. there is already a hole in the dividing wall between the veg garden and the orchard, we just dug the trench to let water escape. The second place we obtained the soil from was the holes for the solar panel frame work. I would have never thought so much soil could come out of few holes. The second picture I thought I would share with you is one of the pear trees, love the colour of the leaves turning from green through brown to golden reds.
