Good evening yall! I took a little side trip on the way home - TopicsExpress

Good evening yall! I took a little side trip on the way home today from Morristown and found a few new barns...this is not one of them, but I liked it from this angle with the daffodils on the right side on a bank. The road makes a really sharp curve here and it looks like you are headed straight into the barn! I met a lady on Facebook who is local to this area and has been filling me in on some of the local history of where I live. I knew that people lived back in these woods before the Holston River was flooded by the TVA to form Cherokee Lake. Her family lived in here and it was called Parse Holler, named after Parse Rogers who owned the land. I had been searching for a name to identify my photos with and decided to call it Parse Holler Photos in honor of those pioneers who lived in here when the only means of getting to town was by foot over the mountain, known as Rogers High Point or by boat or ferry to the mainland. Anyway I am thrilled to learn some local history and she and I hope to meet up soon so she can show me around the Lee Valley area and I can share some of the things Ive found in the woods here like parts of old lanterns, wood burning stove parts, the spring down on one of the creeks and a part of a house foundation. I thrive on history and this is just so exciting for me! Well I got to get busy, but hope yall have a great evening and weekend!
