Good gwad people.... all this insanity over a silly (and fun!) lil app... You guys are quite delusional if you think for a moment you have any REAL privacy... Lemme school you a little bit on the (not so) NEW MESSENGER app... I have been using the messenger app for over a year. Its very cool. Its the only improvement Facebook has made that is an actual improvement. Please do not fall victim to the hype about privacy. First of all... Facebook does not write the privacy agreements and has no control how they are worded. Fact is.... the app is no more invasive than any other app on your phone/tablet. It will NOT record your call or listen -in on your calls. It wont steal your pictures or take pictures without your knowledge. If you have the regular Facebook app on your device... you have already given permission to ALL of these things (except maybe the microphone) already... so hating on the messenger and refusing it... does exactly ZERO to maintain your perceived privacy. Google and Apple are the ones who write up the agreements. Apple has their apps set to have you agree to each feature as it is being accessed. Google puts them all out there, up front, in big agreement. If you have already had the app, uninstalling it does not void you from previously agreeing to anything. So if you are still sure they are watching and listening to you... uninstalling the app wont stop that (even tho that will NEVER happen) The app has access to your camera and photo gallery so you can send pictures in your messages. The app has access to your microphone so you can make a voice recording within the messenger if you want to. The app has access to your contacts so that you FB contacts and regular contacts can be synced. (Google already owns every single bit of info about you without you knowing it anyhow... the messenger app does nothing to help them in that endeavor) The only valid argument anyone can possibly have is that they can no longer read messages within the main Facebook app... And guess what... you have NO real argument there either. Facebook is FREE. You are not FORCED to use their FREE service. If you do not like how they run their FREE SERVICE... dont use it.. its quite simple. (geez... I SO wish I could tell that to about 90% of the people that call my job!!)b!!)
