Good interview with Eva Moskowitz from Reason TV that looks at, among other things, how the teachers union drove her out of elected office....and into creating the biggest charter school operation in NYC. It also examines her political history with current Mayor Bill De Blasio. Three moments I liked: 1) At minutes 11:15 when asked if Success Academies could be scaled, she says, I dont think the district is scaleable....We have proof that, at least in New York City, the scaling didnt work very well. And in New York State, weve got a million kids who failed the test. I dont know under what measure that could be considered a successful scaling experience. So maybe the model should not be one giant district system. Maybe the model should be lots of social entrepreneurs..... 2) At minute 14:00, she directly takes on the argument that the secret to her schools high test scores and other successes is their high attrition rates. 3) At minute 15, she talks about her own salary and the salaries of her principals and teachers
