Good luck to all the wee ones starting school for the first time today, moving up to secondary school or starting in either a new school or entering a new year! Good luck to the mums, dads, grandparents and extended families too as you watch your wee ones head off into their classes for the first time, your little babies are now taking the first step towards independence and I remember it so well, as if it was only yesterday I did it with my three! To any younger ones on my list, if you see a younger child standing alone, looking scared or lost, go up and say hi, I know its easy for you to forget just how you felt on your very first day as youre all experts at it now, but for some kids first day nerves happen every year as theyre shy or quiet and they dread arriving at school to be ignored - youd hate it if you felt like that, so a simple hello, and are you ok will make that childs day a lot easier. To my own two teenagers returning for 3rd and 4th yr this year, good luck, work hard and make your dreams become you reality just the way your older sister has, shes proven that hard work and determination pays off as shes starting her degree next week and I couldnt be more proud of all of you. Shannon stayed at her grans last night so this morning I only had Travis to get ready and it felt so strange not to see her wee face in her new uniform but Shannon always looks very smart and tidy going to school and finally I can say Travis looked ever so smart and tidy in his (even if he thinks blazers, shirts, and ties look silly) Ive never seen him look so well and Im very pleased that the school has gone back to the uniforms we once wore! I hope every child has a wonderful first day no matter whether its for the very first time ever or returning to meet up with friends theyve missed over the six weeks of summer - have a good one kids, roll on 4pm until I get to hear all about your day :-D Love you all
