Good mawnin to everyone - feeling like a human being now that Ive disposed of my third cawfee :p I was with our little lady of the moment, The Megginator, at our local shopping centre, Hannans Boulevard. yesterday. Megan and I often head up that way for a capp for me, and a milkshake for her. She loves going to the Boulevard, and regards it as very much her own home territory :D I was having a chat with the lovely Jasmine Ridley, owner of Love Your Home, whilst I was admiring her stock, and mourning my skinny wallet :D Jasmine was commenting on how much she loves Megan coming into her store, and the high volume energy and vitality Megan brings with her:) Naturally, like any mother, I love discussing my daughter. Jas also observed how far Megan has come with her speech and her interactions over the years, as the parent who spends the most time with them, we sometimes forget how well they are doing, because the changes are not so obvious to us. Megan has been going to the boulevard for most of her life, and is very comfortable there. She wanders and roams at will, and all the store owners know her very well, and watch out for her whilst I slurp the inevitable cappuccino. For instance, the cafe there serve Megan her marshallins automatically on a separate plate, and always make her milkshake quickly, so my little dictator doesnt have to wait too long. In Coles she will park her backside in the freezer, she prances up and down the aisles, accosting random people, and demanding your name? Your name? I think as I mentioned in a previous post, she is unfortunately inclined to gravitate towards the cupcake trays, and claim one as her own and stroll off with it, without as much as a bye your leave, but the store just add to my shopping list, no drama, no problem. Its such satisfying experience that Megan draws people around her with her antics, and its all so positive. Wednesday, her Deputy Principal drove her home, as Megans grandfathers car had declined to start. As I thanked her the next day, she brushed my thanks aside, and said how pleased she was to drive a local Kalgoorlie celebrity home! And this is, I think, Megans special gift and talent, she is teaching a world about difference, about inclusion and about living a good life. I am also in awe of the Goldfields community, who support her and our whole family so well, and embrace our little Megginator for her spirit and individuality, autism warts and all. Its a good life, and a good ride on the spectrum, indeed!! Sayonara, Joeys, have an awesomely brilliant day
