Good morning! A late start as Im a bit under the weather this morning. Lets wipe out the morning post with yesterdays TIG! reveal. I was connected to Virginia Weidler based on an off-screen business situation. Virginia and I appeared, with Ernest Truex, in a print ad for Regent Cigarettes. Virginia later sued, claiming that her likeness was used without her permission. Apparently, Virginia didnt smoke. If you look at the clipping, she had reason not to... I was discovered by Samuel Goldwyn, although I was pretty well known prior to motion pictures. I was already a well known dancer on the continent, thought to be Russian although I was actually German and Norwegian by birth. Lucille Ball, Frank Albertson, and Donald OConnor are some of the other TIG!ers I shared a screen with. I only made eight films, and was fired from the one that would have made my career, FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS. Ingrid Bergman replaced me. I soon returned to my first career. After dancing, I also was a choreographer. Shirley MacLaine lives in my house. According to her story, she felt the presence of a deceased dancer in the home and the overwhelming need to purchase the house in New Mexico that had been mine.
