Good morning, Broncos. We practiced very well yesterday. Guys worked hard and we got a lot accomplished. Defensive backs flew around, made a lot of plays, a lot of solid tackles. We are going to be much improved in this area and I can see us potentially creating a lot of turnovers. I always felt that competition was a good thing and yesterday it was in full effect. Michael (cheese), Corey, Keller are going to make things real difficult for Coach Suggs in his decision making about who his defensive backs are going to be. Our linebackers alignment was too tight and they often got caught up into the wash. Ill do a better job of teaching them to always keep proper spacing, to attack downhill, maybe even some additional footwork drills to improve on their shuffling and opening their hips while theyre attacking the ball carrier. Offensive line won the battle up front. The new lineman that weve gotten this year have a real understanding of the game and have done a real good job of picking up our blocking technique thus far. Patricio Lopez, whos nursing a knee injury right now, has been doing a really good job with those kids. A couple dives and a couple traps yesterday and even a counter, holes were open so wide that I had flashbacks thinking maybe I could run through it. We are vastly improved on the offensive side of the ball. Brandon King has been outstanding at the quarterback position. Steve has done a great job of taking him under his wing and teaching him our offense. Our offensive practice flows so much quicker and guys are learning at a faster rate that were able to implement more of our offensive package. We are already a better offensive team than we were last year. Great job Pep! Good teaching out there! Assistant Coach Tim Jackson, has been all over the place for us...receivers, defensive backs, where ever we need his expertise. His ability to pick up our schemes and help teach the young players has been huge. Brian Burwell was also nursing a knee injury. Hes been practicing at multiple spots for us. As we try to figure out the best way to utilize his talents and hes helped take our receiving core to another level. Kionte balled out. Kyle Weinandt was a man child and Andrew is just real solid. Duffy was duff carrying the ball and one of our new recruits, Terrance ran extremely hard. Kudos to our offense. As satisfied as I am, Ive never really been a complacent guy and well just get back to work and see what we can do to get better today.
