Good morning FG & Fers . . . Sometimes things are just meant to be. A bit of news and what I think is a really cool announcement. 1) The insurance is no longer an issue. 2) We have switched locations to a much more suitable area on a variety of levels - space, safety, family friendly (plenty of parking, playground for kids etc) We will be incorporating both the Riverbend and Glendale recreation facilities that are right off the bottom of Wilson Hill down next to the river. If you have not seen what the City has done back there - - amazing and beautiful . . . .and we are still right in town . .I bet we will be able to smell Dirty Shirleys Steak sandwiches while we are running/walking. 3) As the years continue to go by, we remember with smiles and poignancy those that gone before us. While planning this run/walk reunion, thoughts of friends have been on many of our minds including Bridget, Chris Kisner, Bart Coen. I have to believe that it is not coincidence that we find ourselves all these years later preparing to get-together in a place where another beloved son of Elkins is memorialized everyday - Steve Height. I had a chance to talk with Steves Dad, Ron, just a few days ago, immediately after it dawned on me where we had switched the event. Ron is looking forward to joining us that morning and saying a few words before a bunch of Elkins kids run together one more time in a special place. We can move the start time back a bit. Maybe 9 am? That isnt break of dawn early, yet still allows for folks to finish and have plenty of time to do what they will before the parade. If you have a moment - please give me your thoughts on the start time. My hope is that this switch of venue can be appreciated for the variety of positives it offers. You never know we may have another surprise guest or two before all is said and done. Brian J
