Good morning, Father God . . . As we pray through the New - TopicsExpress

Good morning, Father God . . . As we pray through the New Testament, we come to Hebrews 6:9-7:10. We are eternally grateful, heavenly Father, for the hope that we have through Jesus Christ. He is the great high priest who interceded on our behalf, gave His life, and thus made it possible for people to enter into Your very presence. Jesus’ ministry removed the barriers of sin and separation, even enabling us to call You “Our Father,” as in the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13). He suffered more than I will ever know to make this a reality. Thus, in the face of our own suffering, may we (like the early church Hebrews spoken of in this passage) step out in faith and take great risks for the sake of the Gospel. May Christians today follow the lead of those who have gone before us: “For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do” (6:10). May we do so, again, because of the anchor of hope we have in Jesus. The promise You made to Abram (whom You later called Abraham) foreshadowed the Gospel of Jesus and His Kingdom: “in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (Genesis 12:3). This hope is also foreshadowed in the person and ministry of the Old Testament priest Melchizedek, as we see in today’s reading in Hebrews. “But this man who does not have his descent from them received tithes from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises” (7:6). Father God, bottom line, help me to live in light of the Gospel. May I press on day by day: loving You, doing Your work, keeping hope ever strong, and being used of You to pass along the hope that I have to others! esvbible.org/Hebrews%206%3A9-7%3A10/
