Good morning Fellow Vespa Riders of South Africa. I have recently been sent some details and screen shots from your Facebook site where Vespa SA and some of the other Vespa riding groups make use of the Term Vesparados... now although this term is not a registered term it is in fact already a name of a well-established South African Scooter club. The Vesparados SC have been an active scooter club with mostly vintage Vespa riders and some Lambretta guys as well the club was started close to 20 years ago By Peter Forbes and 3 Mates, the club grew from there to eventually a Chapter starting in Johannesburg which is an infant at only 8 years old however old enough to have made an impact on the scooter scene in Johannesburg. Both clubs are still very active in both Vintage shows and scooter gatherings as well as many Motorcycle rallies. Although we are a Scooter club we do not have a registration process or club fees or anything like that BUT we do have Motorcycle Club / Gang Initiation processes where a possible club member needs to apprentice in the club for a period to prove him or herself BEFORE they can officially call themselves a Vesparado. and get the chance to wear the club colours proudly. I as the President of Vesparados SC JHB will gladly accommodate any of your riders here on the highveld that feel they would like to become a part of the Vesparados Community BUT they will still need be initiated before they are called Vesparados as each of my other members have been already. I Truly hope after this basic history as seen above I will not see the use of the Vesparados name again in one of your or affiliated riding groups Posts Unless the Vesparados Johannesburg or Cape Town are actually involved in that specific event or meeting. If you would like to discuss anything further please do not hesitate to contact me and we can meet.
