Good morning Folks! Well, the sunshine has a day off here at Mystic Hollow....a nice light rain is falling watering all our wonderful plants. The skitters are out in full force hovering around our windows wanting in to get a tasty meal. Most of the birds are scattered under trailers hiding from the rain. The cats are out and about...no way they are staying in today and wanting to escape tonight. Turf is in his kennel drying off after a morning romp and The Naked Farmer & I are sitting at our kitchen table having our coffee, listening to the local radio station! 97.7 The Moose! Plans for today.....hmmmmm....lets see.....I am not going to do outside stuff in the rain & bugs so it looks like trailer cleaning, bunny cage cleaning, egg collecting and maybe some game playing. Right now, we are in the process of making bread, the morning chores are done....all our animals have full tummies. Speaking of full tummies....The Naked Farmer & I mixed up our own chicken ration yesterday. 4 steal garbage cans full of oats, barley, field peas, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds & flax seeds. Only thing missing was wheat but we will hopefully have a couple bags of that soon to mix in with the other ingredients. That paired with quinoa every now and again and foraging for 12 to 13 hours a day should be some good nutrition for our flock. Oh and some extra calcium for our layers will round out the dinner menu, plus some crayfish & minnows here and there too. Oh and wild nutrition....lol....yesterday we were standing in the yard and a Chantey came running from under the Moho with a mouse in its yap. Woohoo....we have mousers & snake catchers. Let’s talk about dinner....last night we deep-fried one of our very own turkeys! What a delicious and not so nutritious way to cook a turkey. We won’t have them often but for a treat once or twice a year will be nice. It is soooo easy to cook them and so much quicker then roasting one. Tonight’s dinner is going to be bacon, eggs and toast with some fruit. An easy dinner for a warm muggy day. What’s on your menu for tonight’s dinner? Ok I think I should post and get offline....this sucks to have such a crappy internet....soon though! Plus, I need to get the zapper out to vanquish these bazillion mosquito’s outta here! OMG there are hoards of them! How on earth are they getting in here? Ok off I go....I cant stand the bugs anymore. Have a super day all! Happy Homesteading/Prepping!!!!
