Good morning, Friends, Welcome to another week of reading through the New Testament. Today we found Paul traveling back to Macedonia. His options for a place to stay are become increasingly limited (Acts 20:1-3). Everywhere he turns, resistance against him increases. He also now writes (what many Bible teachers describe) as the most significant letter he will ever write - Romans. Today we also read chapters 1-3 of Romans. This letter is almost exclusively written to Gentiles. Prior to this time, Emperor Nero has expelled all Jews from the city of Rome. So the Christians who first received this letter were not Jewish, but they knew much about how the Jews lived, and at least some about their history with God. This is a great starting point for us too! Here are some of the ideas that jumped out to me as I read today... 1) Since the creation of the world Gods invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature (1:20) are on display. Some of the most breath-taking moments I have ever experienced have been in the beautiful scenic spots across our country. What God makes is truly beautiful. Dont you find it so? 2) God does not show favoritism (2:11). He responds with love and healing to all who genuinely seek Him. Regardless of who you are, or where youve come from...glory, peace and belonging in His family is a possibility for you! 3) Even though NO ONE is worthy of Gods acceptance, righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. (3:22) Yes, there is much in these chapters about sin, law, judgement and penalties. But it is all there to motivate us toward a humble turning away from the pride and darkness in our own hearts. Let us be quick to turn - and discover the peace of God. I pray that you will experience that peace again today! Pastor George
