Good morning GMT peeps. Ya know, it wasnt until this morning while I was setting up the tables in front of my shop that the meaning of this sticker hit home. As I was finishing setting my chairs up a very young man stopped and looked at the safe place. He asked what it was for. I explained that it was something that started decades ago mainly for the LGBTQ community, the youth in particular. That if someone was being chased, harassed, attacked, thrown out of their home ect.. They could find solitude and shelter wherever they saw the sign. And that The Location would take on the responsibility of getting any help needed for whom ever. He responded with, I wish theyd have had places like that where Im from in Alabama. He went into to detail of a story that hed come out to his parents and after a vicious reaction from them he hotfooted it out of there a made his way to California where people are way more cool. He said he wasnt sure how he ended up here in our little neighborhood but that hes never felt more at home. Kinda tugs at me a bit since I never had to experience anything like he has. I told him that the people of Tower will welcome him, no reason to be frightened anymore.
