Good morning If you are following along, Bible reading for the day... Exodus 16-18... My oh my, what an ungrateful bunch. A month and a half after being delivered out of 400 years of slavery, the people of Israel started complaining that Moses brought them out of Egypt to die of hunger. Theyd rather be back in bondage eating til their bellies were full. Moses heard their cry and went to God, and He provided manna from Heaven for them to eat in the mornings and quails to eat in the evening until they had their fill. They were instructed to gather no more than they could eat and not save any (some couldnt even follow this simple command). By morning those who gathered more than their need, the manna had rotted and sprung worms :( Gross. After more time in the wilderness they started grumbling about no water and saying the same old line....Out of Egypt to kill us...rather be back in bondage...blah blah blah. God gave Moses the power to bring water from a stick, which made them happy for a minute...until Amalek came to fight. Moses sent Joshua to choose men to fight, and they prevailed as long as Moses reached out to God. When he would tire and let down his arms Amelek advanced, but Aaron and Hur helped Moses reach toward Heaven, as God and Joshua fended them off. Jethro (not Bodean), Mosess father in-law offers advice to Moses on how to rule in the land and hear all grievances...simply appoint people to help with that. Moses still oversees the big issues and smaller ones are delegated. Matthew 18:1-20 Jesus talks of children, that they are the greatest among men. Not sure if He literally means this, or if we are to humble ourselves as children. Jesus goes on to tell of the shepherd that loses one sheep, and leaves the 99 unattended to find the one, and rejoices in finding the lost one. It could be you. It was once me. Walk in comfort...
