Good morning. Last week, the nation Nigeria witnessed an unprecedented callous act. Reports have it that over 2 million Nigerians were at various exam centres across Nigeria for the Nigerian Immigration job test. It was a shamble and a show of shame as we witnessed in broad daylight the attitude of our fathers(?) in public offices towards their children. Some young Nigerians lost their lives in the stampede that ensued in certain locations. May their souls rest in perfect peace, amen! Interestingly, I can bet my life that the posts jostled for have already been shared by our fathers(?). On top of that, our minister of interior blamed the deaths that occured on the fact that participants refused to obey instructions regarding the test. I really do not think that was a good statement. Will people be sacked for this ignoble act? I doubt it. What we saw was the fruit of a seed sown many years back. It is the fruit of systematic wicked self-centredness sown many years ago in our political and national history. Can we change it? Well, as we pray for ourselves and Nigeria, let us remember that God will not do for us what we must do for ourselves. Start a business, employ people, live right, and in 2015, eschew sentiment and be guided by reason. God bless you and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
