Good morning! So excited for the Red Sox and for the city of Boston! Im lucky to have been many places in my life and to have seen some beautiful sights, but Boston remains my favorite city... I simply love everything about it... :) With regards to Halle and her college applications... Thanks so much for your kind words and thoughts... Heres whats happening... She has applied early to three schools, as she can do that without being bound to any if accepted. (Many colleges hold you to an acceptance if you apply early and get in) She has applied to The University of Virginia. Great school! One of her top choices. She fell in love with Boston College on her college tour and has applied there as well. Notre Dame is the third school she applied to... All three would be wonderful for various reasons and she would be thrilled to be accepted by any of them. On or just before December 1st, she will have also applied to The University of Southern California, The University of Texas Honors College, Vanderbilt, Georgetown, Harvard, Princeton and Yale. (Im missing one here, I think) I had hoped she would also apply to Stanford, just for the hell of it, but they dont offer what she wants to study, so she is going to pass. Dammit! :) She spent part of a summer at Brown two years ago, and while she loved it, its mainly a Liberal Arts college... She is into International Business and Law with a secondary degree in Chinese Studies/Language, so no to Brown. As for Yale, she was there this summer and was asked to interview. She LOVED Yale and would love to go! I think Princeton remains her top choice, although I wouldnt swear to that. :) So heres where we are... I think she will be thrilled to go to any of those schools. She is very humble... She remains sweet and kind. Mike and I have NEVER pushed her at all, and to this day, we could care less where she ends up... Its about her being happy! Its not about us! There is a college for every student... There is a fit. She happens to be applying to the toughest schools there are and I hope she gets into all of them because she deserves it. The odds of that are not high though, as its very competitive. I still laugh thinking about my barely getting into The University of Texas, when anyone could go... And Mike at A&M - same thing. :) What I will say is this... I believe Halle will get into the best school for her. I believe that all the hours and hours and hours of studying will pay off as she has worked harder than any student Ive ever known. I hope she always knows that she is respected and valued and that Mike and I love her beyond anything she could ever imagine. She has made us proud simply by being who she is... She came into this world as an incredible gift to both of us, and she will be that, no matter what. So here we go.... Ill let you know either way, when I know. Thanks for the love. Always... :)
