Good morning!!! So proud of having been a part of this event; It was wonderful to be able to support such a great cause; to help raise awareness to the services available for folks in Steinbach, and raise funds for Today House. After checking in at 7PM, we had a task, where we went to Safeway in groups, with $27.72 - the equivalent of what a single person on SA would have to buy food for 7 days. While for me, this task was easy (I could easily live on what was purchased/and I have), it was a challenge for others. Then we went to Soups On and enjoyed a hot bowl of soup, and discussion at Grace Mennonite, before walking back to the site where we listened speakers from Siliam and a gentleman who went from a 6 figure income, to being homeless for 14 months. Thank you Today House board and volunteers for bringing this event to the local area. On a personal note; it was more challenging then I thought but for none of the reasons you would assume.
