Good morning. The colder air is here. The coming week will bring - TopicsExpress

Good morning. The colder air is here. The coming week will bring polar temps. Time to curl up with something liquid and hot. Wrap your chilled hands around that cup of goodness and restore toastiness to your insides. Well. Christmas is over. The elf goes back to his shelf Charlotte Oshe until 2015. It was a strange Christmas. People were different. Subdued. Our governor signed a drug testing law for welfare recipients. This is a 1-year pilot program for 3 counties. Another plane is missing...in the same part of the world as the Malasian flight from a couple of months ago. The funeral of NYPD Officer Ramos was held yesterday. I was watching it when the power sputtered and died at 11:45. Officer Lius funeral will be next week-end. So, I went out (for the 3rd time) to do more shoveling. A big limb on a tree down about 5 houses from me broke off and landed in the street in front of a police car. I walked down to assist with its removal, but a neighbor who was outside removing snow and closer, got there first. The officer said a tree/limbs had caused the power outage. That power outage lasted until 4:20. I told Thomas that if the power was still out by 6 p.m., I was sending him to a hotel. (Still without my truck.) So, my side of the street had no power. Some neighbors had to hand-shovel because they could not open their garages and use their snowblowers, so snow shoveling took longer than usual. Spent 6 hours total shoveling yesterday. Oy. Thanks to Thomass scanner, he kept me informed on repair updates which I passed on to the neighbors. House temps were getting interesting and made some of the neighbors a bit concerned. (We have a woodstove in the basement.) One neighbor was getting twitchy because he needed coffee. Two things I need to do differently before the next power outage..use a different light source. Thomas did not like the smell from the oil lamps. The second thing...dont put all the handwarmers in the trucks winter prep gear. I had a pair in the house and got them activated for Thomas. 20 minutes later...we have power. Oy. Snot. The grader just went through and I have more snow to shovel. In a few days, the new year will be upon us. I dont do resolutions because...well, in spite of best intentions, thats a pitfall...so, I avoid that negative situation. Seed catalogs are coming in. Those things cause cabin fever...those and Joe Weissgerber posting photos from AZ of green grass and flowers. Well, the shovel is calling my name. Later.
