Good morning, Today is the first day of the new year. This year we plan to put more pressure on the city to do more about the slumlord, absentee landlord, and rental condition issues in the city. We are already planning for the year. Something new we are doing is having a mailing list. Residents can sign up for this mailing list and receive emails from us regarding housing and emails we feel are important to get out to our followers. It allows us another way to communicate with our followers. If you are not registered to vote we highly recommend you get registered because our elected officials are the ones who make decisions that affect you. City council makes decisions that affect the daily operations of the city including code enforcement, health dept, streets, trash, recycling, public safety, etc. They have a role on how your tax dollars are spent. The school district makes decisions that affect the schools and the childrens education. If you feel they have not done enough or are not making the right decisions then you need to vote this year. We can enact change but we must come together as a community and create change. We understand not everyone can come out to a city council meeting or may even be scared to say anything. However when it comes to voting you are using your vote as your voice and you dont have to say a word. Just cast your vote as your voice. Let your voice be heard at the polls. Remember you dont have to tell anyone who you voted for if your worried about that. So lets make this the year we say enough is enough. Enough of the substandard rental conditions. Enough of the slumlords destroying our neighborhoods. Enough of the absentee landlords collecting rent but not making repairs. Enough of the trashed neighborhoods. Enough of teachers getting cut. Enough of the failing school system. Lets do this!
