Good morning, UK Forecast – 20th June Synoptic - TopicsExpress

Good morning, UK Forecast – 20th June Synoptic situation: High pressure is once more sitting just to the west of Ireland and remains the dominant feature across all of the UK. Winds are still coming in from a northerly quarter, bringing variable amounts of cloud to many areas, and it is feeling fresher for most places. Today’s outlook England, including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Wight, and Wales: It is a dry start to the day for just about all parts, if rather cloudy across central and eastern areas in particular. There are some good spells of sunshine around, though, especially over southern and south-western England along with Wales, and most places will see some sunny spells at times today with variable amounts of cloud, the best of the sunshine remaining across south-western regions. The odd very isolated shower could break out over inland regions this afternoon, but most places will miss them. Temperatures will climb up to between 20°C and 22°C for northern England, but between 22 and 24°C further south. Light winds from the north or northwest are expected, although sea breezes will develop around coasts turning it a touch cooler here. The Isle of Man and Northern Ireland: It is also a dry start across these regions with variable amounts of cloud around. By this afternoon bright or sunny spells will have developed in most areas but there is a risk of a light shower breaking out across the north coast of Northern Ireland. It will feel somewhat cooler and fresher than the last few days with maximums of 18°C to 20°C in a light to moderate north/north-westerly breeze. Scotland, including the Northern and Western Isles: There is a fair amount of mist and low cloud around this morning with central and southern parts of Scotland seeing the best of the sunshine. Some mainly light showers are affecting the far north and northwest, blown in on a fresh north-westerly wind, and these will continue throughout today. Otherwise many places will see some bright or sunny intervals developing today, but more in the way of thicker cloud will arrive across the far north and west later, bringing further showers. Maximum temperatures of 19°C to 21°C are expected, but the Northern and Western Isles will be cooler with highs of 15°C or 16°C. UV levels today will be high in the sunny areas, moderate where it remains mostly cloudy, whilst pollen levels will be high to very high across England and Wales, moderate over northernmost England, central, southern and eastern Scotland along with Northern Ireland, whilst remaining low for northern parts of Scotland. Have a good day, Paul
