Good morning Wednesday. Today it feels like a what if kinda day. Like what if time stood still. Had a time-out. Just for half an hour. No rushing. No panics. Just stillness. Only silence. Or what if the coffee shop closed its doors to all but those who knew the meaning of real time, non-electronic conversation (oh the irony). Just the noise of vocal cords being exercised. No buttons bring pressed. No screens being viewed. Just old school communication. What if Little Italy wore red instead of black and I sipped espresso instead of green tea, feeling the dark liquid open my eyes just a little more than usual. I look to the left, where a row of open-necked shirts stand out of shape. Bags over shoulders. Shorts over hairy, tanned legs with bicycle calves. No doubles at the tables. No meeting eyes and holding hands. Only singles, deep in thought. Waiting for the man. Waiting for the woman. Waiting for the right time to get up and leave. Another what if. What if they stayed. Spoke to the person at the next table. Opened up. Let their guard down. Just for a minute. The box on the wall gets the ball rolling. Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London. Ill show you something to make you change your mind. Good old Ralph. Be unplugged. Be cool...
