Good morning! Yesterday we celebrated Friendly Inn Settlement House on 140 years of serving the community and the long lasting legacy of Geraldine Burns. Thanks to B. Harris who thought about a few of the children from DTW under the leadership of Ms. Burns at the Friendly Inn to acknowledge just a few of the children who have strive and thrive to reach their success under the supervision of Ms. Burns. Trust and believe their are many many more children who have grown up under her leadership and have achieved goals but it was to many to fit in the building all at once. So congrats goes out to Camille Smith, Tony Bolden, Mike Beaman, Sherry Williams, Linda Wheat, and Karen Wanzo for their achievements in life as part of the DTW Sucess Team. Thank you Ms. Harris! You rock and showed us nothing but love. Also thanks to our keynote speaker Yvonne Pointer who delivered a wonderful speech and a special thanks to Council woman Phyllis Cleveland who change the name of Unwin to a shared name of Geraldine Burns Way/Unwin. This was a wonderful event and I was truly honored to be a part of the history.
