Good morning all! An early morning update for the weekend is occurring because today I am taking my first SAT! Today: A beautiful Fall weekend day looks in store with mostly sunny skies and light westerly winds backing to the south and southwest at 5-10 mph this afternoon. This will be occurring in conjunction with high pressure passing south of the area this morning and moving offshore in the afternoon. Highs in the low to mid 50s north and middle 50s south are predicted. Tonight: A cold front arrives from the west late tonight and results in mostly cloudy skies overnight. Showers are not expected as the moisture looks to remain around 10,000 feet above the ground and the lower levels are rather dry. Lows in the upper 30s to low 40s north of Virginia and in the middle to upper 40s south; middle 40s along the coasts and bays are predicted. Winds tonight should remain out of the south to southwest under 10 mph. Sunday: The cold front should be entering the region by sunrise with it passing through and exiting in the morning hours. Clouds in the morning should break up behind the front as west to northwesterly winds blow at 5-10 mph, leading to a mostly sunny day across the Peninsula. Highs in the middle 50s to 60 degrees north and in the low 60s south are forecast. Sunday night: High pressure builds overhead during the night and leads to mostly clear skies with calm winds. Lows in the middle to upper 30s away from marine influences north of Virginia and low to mid 40s near and along the Delaware Bay south of Dover, the Delaware coastline, western portions of MDs Eastern Shore, and in Virginia are all forecast. Monday: A sunny day looks in store for the Delmarva as high pressure, previously overhead, moves off to the northeast. A cold front dropping into New York state should lead to a wind shift yet again to the south at least in the Upper Half while Lower Half areas may remain north to northeast. Highs in the upper 50s to low 60s north and in the low to mid 60s south are expected. Tuesday: This looks to be your last chance to enjoy above-normal weather before Winter takes a peek late in the week. Highs in the low to mid 60s north and middle 60s south are forecast with southwesterly winds around 5-10 mph. This will be occurring ahead of a cold front, which is expected to be holding a very cold airmass behind it as near-1050 MB (very strong) high pressure invades the US through Montana. Wednesday: The cold front approaches late Tuesday night and begins moving in possibly near sunrise. A rather weak low should be attached to the front, thus little or no precipitation is expected. Temperatures will be cooler for Wednesday as colder air filters in behind the morning frontal passage. Breezy northwest to westerly winds are possible. Thursday and Friday: Very strong and broad high pressure builds in from Montana and brings the coldest airmass weve seen yet into the United States east of the Continental Divide. Highs struggling to reach 50 degrees are possible and there also exists a possibility for a low pressure area to develop along the previous cold front, which moved offshore, but slowed down upon entering the ocean. Whether this low pressure area has any impact on our region has yet to be seen. The models will be watched. Nevertheless, the CPCs Temperature Outlooks compared to normal, show below-normal air remaining over the region through the middle of November. Whether any wintry precipitation can occur while this cold air is entrenched will need to watched closely. Have a great Saturday and enjoy the sunny weather with highs in the 50s! --Adam
