Many of you have asked when the Elections for next years Society will be taking place and what positions will be available next year. . Since RUSU have finally allowed us to become an official Society (whereas before we were defined as a vague not-Society on the books), there have been a lot of administrative changes that weve had to attend to and this is the main reason why the Elections are being held so late this year. . Anyway, nominations for these positions will open tomorrow. People who wish nominate themselves for a particular role should - tomorrow - leave their name and a brief comment/manifesto on what they would contribute to the LGBT+ Society and how they intend to fulfill their role. . Elections will occur as a paper ballet on the 17th June and will be held in the RUSU Hub from 12pm onwards. . If you have any questions at all, please feel free to comment below! . . The following ten roles will be up for election: . -- PRESIDENT: Has the final say in all choices made and delegates tasks to all committee members. Main contact for RUSU, attend meetings arranged by RUSU. Arranging meetings (including AGM). Maintain effective liaison with all relevant staff. A signatory on claim forms, paying-in forms etc. . -- SECRETARY: Deals with contacting external bodies to the society. Take minutes at committee meetings and circulate among committee members. . -- TREASURER: In charge of the societies finances and collecting money for trips and socials. Ensure all income is accurately recorded and keep copies of all receipts and invoices. Present the accounts at the AGM and ensure copies are made available to all members. A signatory on claim forms, paying-in forms etc. . -- WOMENS REP: - Must self-define as a Woman and as LGBT+. Ensure that Women are represented. Look after the welfare of Women Students and be point of contact for students who want to communicate with someone who self-defines as a Woman. Encourage Women Students to attend events/socials and ensure events/socials are accessible and welcoming towards them. Communicate with the Society and take part in any campaigns regarding issues that disproportionately or exclusively affect Women. . -- BI* REP: - Must self-define as Bi*. Ensure that Bi* Students are represented. Look after the welfare of Bi* students and be point of contact for students who want to communicate with someone who self-defines as Bi*.Encourage Bi* Students to attend events/socials and ensure events/socials are accessible and welcoming towards them. Communicate with the Society and take part in any campaigns regarding issues that disproportionately or exclusively affect Bi* people. . -- GENDER VARIANT REP: - Must self-define as Gender Variant or Trans*. Ensure that Gender Variant Students are represented. Look after the welfare of Gender Variant Students a point of contact for students who want to communicate with someone who self-defines as Gender Variant or Trans*. Encourage Trans*/Gender Variant Students to attend events/socials and ensure events/socials are accessible and welcoming. Communicate with the Society and take part in any campaigns regarding issues that disproportionately or exclusively affect Trans*/Gender Variant people. . -- BAME (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic) REP - Must self-define as Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME). Ensure that BAME Students are represented. Look after the welfare of BAME Students and be a point of contact for students who want to communicate with someone who self-defines as Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic. Encourage BAME Students to attend events/socials and ensure events/socials are accessible and welcoming towards them. Communicate with the Society and take part in any campaigns regarding issues that disproportionately or exclusively affect BAME Students. . -- DISABLED STUDENTS REP: - Must self-define as LGBT+ and be a Disabled Student. Ensure that Disabled Students are represented. Look after the welfare of Disabled Students and provide a point of contact for students who want to communicate with someone who self-defines as an LGBT+ and is a Disabled Student. Encourage Disabled Students to attend events/socials and ensure events/socials are accessible and welcoming to Disabled Students. Communicate with the Society and take part in any campaigns regarding issues that disproportionately or exclusively affect Disabled people. . -- POSTGRADUATE REP: - Must be a Postgraduate and self-define as LGBT+. Ensure that Postgraduates are represented. Look after the welfare of Postgraduates and provide a point of contact for students who want to communicate with an LGBT+ Postgraduate. Encourage Postgraduates to attend events/socials and ensure events/socials are accessible and welcoming to Postgraduate Students. Communicate with the Society and take part in any campaigns regarding issues that disproportionately or exclusively affect Postgraduate Students. . -- OPEN POSITION: - Must self-define as LGBT+. Ensure that LGBT+ Students are represented. Look after the welfare of LGBT+ Students and provide a point of contact for students who want to communicate with someone who self-defines as LGBT+. Encourage Students to attend events/socials and ensure events/socials are accessible and welcoming to LGBT+ Students.
