Good morning and welcome to Your Elevation Today (YET). Our topic is, Brilliant at the basics. “Whatsoever your hands finds to do, do with all your might…” Ecclesiastes 9:10 Joseph was a dreamer, but he was also a very efficient administrator. In fact, his administrative abilities did as much as his ability to interpret dreams did in getting him to the top. David was a brave fighter, but he was also an excellent human manager. He was skilled at identifying talent in the most unlikely of places. At a point, he assembled a motley crew of the hopeless and disgruntled who eventually became an elite fighting squad. We focus on the big things all the time. This may not be bad, but there are a number of ‘little things’ that are essential to the development of enterprise. Not many of us think of breathing as a very cool thing, but it is essential to life. Of what use is a brilliant idea that cannot be communicated? How can we achieve bigger things if we don’t know how to work effectively with people? Writing, speaking, and collaborating are the ‘small three’ basic skills that are universal in their application. No matter how great the idea or the opportunity, if you are lacking in any of these three, they will most likely trip you up. Think About It 1. What are some basic skills you need to acquire? 2. What is your level of proficiency in the ‘small three’? Prayer Focus Ask the Lord for sensitivity to His Spirit such that you can respond appropriately to His promptings, even in the basic areas of life.
