Good morning, beloved brothers and sisters. I hope you had a good weekend, and that prayer has brought you the fulfillment and contentment that you seek. The feeling is that there is a need for a call to prayer; earnest and righteous. What is it we are seeking in doing so? Edward Bounds says that Prayer is simply asking God to do for us what He has promised us He will do if we ask Him. (E.M. Bounds, The Possibilities of Prayer). He goes on to say The man who prays can pray for anything and for everything, and God will give anything and everything. If we limit God in the asking, He will be limited in the giving. Also, prayer comes from a fundamental position of need and, hopefully, reverence and the giving of glory to Him. Because of this, the most humble and needy are those that, seemingly, will be the most blessed by it. Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5: 3 Weve reviewed this before; those that seem the least likely to be lifted up and showered by His blessings will triumph. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Matthew 5: 5-6 So, as we embark upon our journeys of the week, lets give some serious thought to prayer and the part that it will play in our lives. We know it gives us protection in the face of our fears To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy. Psalm 64: 1 Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life. Psalm 42: 8 It will cover us in all we do and fill our spirits with calm and satisfaction, even in the most unlikely circumstances. Have a wonderful and prayerful week.
