Good morning brothers and sisters in Christ. Therefore, my beloved, shun the worship of idols.1 Corinthians 10:14 A well-know saying among preachers is. Every heart has in it a God-shaped vacuum. The obvious point is that we cannot be complete or full unless God lives in our hearts. Without God within our being we are empty and incomplete. Anthropological studies clearly demonstrate this need in all cultures to fill human life with divine beings. There is an instinct in us that yearns for God. Many tribal peoples create idols and totems that become religious responses to this yearning. They develop rituals and ceremonies to fill the vacuum. Most of us know that we tried to fill our vacuum with drinking, eating, gambling, or with some other action, or with some person. These became our idols. Yet the yearning for completeness and fulfillment is normal. Our urgent craving for relief and comfort was human and natural. The only mistake we made was the choice of our god. Our appetite was good. Our diet was wrong. God is the only diet that will satisfy the vacuum shape for him. Our recovery is a process of replacement, replacing our old gods that enslaved us an addicted us with God who will face us and fill us with himself. O God, come as Christ Jesus, the only true shape and substance that will satisfy. Come and live in my heart. Amen. I pray that everyone will have a wonderful and peaceful Sunday, take care and may God continue to bless you all. Amen
