Good morning, campers! Its Wednesday, January 14, with two full weeks of 2015 now in the ledger. Meaning the crowds at the gym should be thinning out day by day. The Portland winter is being kind to us, with sun today and a high of 50. Its a lavishly starry sky at this writing (0355); the crescent moon looks like a lemon wedge swimming in a bowl of sugar. Top stories include a reported home invasion robbery at a home on 20 acres just west of Wilsonville, where three masked men allegedly tied up a woman and robbed her. She got free and called her husband. No suspects found. Searchers have found the main section--the fuselage--of the jet that crashed in the Java Sea over the holidays. Al Qaedas Arabian Peninsula franchise claims now that it was behind the Paris attack one week ago today. A bartender in Ohio is charged with planning to poison or shoot John Boehner for having him fired from the country club where he served the House Speaker drinks for the last five years. Says voices from the radio urged him to do it. Whats happening today is what they call Specialties, where dogs of certain breeds come from all over the country for competition and socializing. Then all-breed shows begin Thursday, with breed-level competition, the winners of which then compete in groups (hound, toy, working, etc), and the winners there advance to Best in Show, one of my favorite snarky movies ever. We know people in that movie. A dog formerly owned by one of them lies hopefully by my side. Time for me to bolt the kennel and head for the studio, where my pals Bruce and Janine are already working up the mornings entertainment.
