Good morning comrades! Welcome back to #TheWeighIn. I hope everyone enjoyed their July 4th weekend. With that being said, lets get right to it. Running errands with DaLeyna Adkinson prior to coming to New Jersey, we ran by the #BeautySupplyStore which I must say was HUGE, one of the largest chains Ive seen...and I began thinking, the largest customer base of these stores (wigs, weaves, hair care products, make up and costume jewelry) by far is African Americans...even when it comes to #UrbanRetailFashionChains we are again the largest consumer demographic pumping MILLIONS dollars into these industries. All this leading me to ask my #contributingwriters... Where are OUR industries?...Where do we dominate and pull our OWN collective dollars together to build up our OWN communities. Now I salute any entrepreneur despite their color for the insight to move on opportunity, but it seems to me that we are CONSTANTLY being studied by other ethnicities for our likes and dislikes then watch as entire industries are designed to exploit and profit from our needs, yet we NEVER move beyond simple consumers, verses putting ourselves collectively in situations to become the actual producers.
