Good morning everyone ... :-) Exciting news for you all today !!! As the first vast Super Pod of playful Common Dolphins of this Winter, was sighted and recorded yesterday Saturday the 23rd feeding and traveling through the rich and sheltered waters of Falmouth Bay .. Words can not really express the excitement and wonderment of seeing and interacting with such a vast and huge group of Dolphins . I have been so lucky to have observed this many, many times before here in Falmouth Cornwall and first recorded these huge aggregation of Common Dolphins coming in to feed with their youngsters and new born calves back now in the Winter of 2003 :-) Makes me feel quite old haha :-) . Remembering back to that first incredible and spectacular sight :-) As some THOUSAND plus Dolphins had located and balled up a vast shoal of Mackerel to feed on . The sky thick with a variable cloud of squawking , wheeling and diving Gannets .. Now is the very best time and right through to March of next year to hopefully see many more Super Pods of these truly beautiful and playful Dolphins . In fact, at times , its so much to take in . With so many Dolphins as far as the eye can see . Jumping , leaping and rushing past . You really dont know where to look next .. Joyful and quite remarkable .. With so much bait / feed in the Bay .. As I have been saying and sharing with you all .. I strongly believe that as long as the weather allows us and we can get as many trips out, in the beginning of the New Year .. That there is every possibility, that those incredible Giants of the Oceans , the mighty Fin Whales at 80 feet .. Will come into the Bay to feed this Winter, along with these truly amazing to behold Super Pods of playful Common Dolphins ... Exciting times ahead !!! Atlantic Grey Seals are also now starting to gather now and to form a large social group in our local area. Giving us the opportunity to continue our dedicated photo ID and research into these charismatic and inquisitive animals . Great Northern, Red Throated and Black Throated Divers are now arriving in good numbers and most of the inshore zone, the shelterd bays and Carrick Roads have numbers of birds settling in now for the Winter .. Offshore Kittiwakes, Guillemots, Razorbills , Skuas and Gannets are feeding and flying through. Peregrine Falcons, Merlins and Raves along with waders are working the shore line and stunning cliff faces ... Much to all our amazement yesterday along with all the fabulous wildlife :-) ... It is still incredibly mild , dare I say Warm :-) for the time of year !!! Long may it continue :-) So if you fancy a trip over the Winter .. Yes we are still running our fun filled and truly exciting wildlife educational cruises . There is SO MUCH to SEE :-) and if you are the lucky ones .... To experience the pleasure and sheer amazement of observing and interacting with a Super Pod of beautiful Common Dolphins .. ... Well ,, its a little bit of Heaven :-) and something that will stay in your memories forever .. Apart from CHRISTMAS Day and Boxing Day . We will be running our trips throughout the festive period and New Year holidays ..
