Good morning, everyone. I am going to try to make it part of my routine as the Citys district 3 representative to recap the important decisions that are made at each city council meeting. 12/15/14 meeting: 1. The council voted 5-0 in favor of appropriating $4000 to a pilot utility box beautification project. As part of the project, 5 utility boxes in various downtown locations will be painted by local artists. The city hopes that this will not only beautify the downtown but also deter graffiti. This is phase one of a larger project to paint all of the citys utility boxes. The community at large will have an opportunity to sponsor boxes in the near future. 2. The city voted 5-0 in favor of executing an agreement with Lotus Management Group to defer impact fees for up to two years for the hotel project on Gateway Drive. Hopefully this will spur Lotus Management to pull their permit and begin construction as soon as weather permits. This is an important decision because it shows that the city is willing to work with companies in order to get the services that our community needs.
