Good morning everyone...I hope everyone is enjoying the snow day today..however Im sure anyone that has to drive anywhere isnt! I just wanted to make note...Im finding more and more people lately are expecting to have major photoshopping done to their photos..I think a lot of it has to do with the instragram apps, and editing apps you can download to edit your photos...Ive been asked to slim people down several sizes, remove ALL blemishes, reduce butt size, increase butt size, increase boobs, and even to give tummy tucks. Now I want people to LOVE their photos..and I do my best to make sure you look good in them...and I do editing that I may not necessarily tell you about, if there is a little roll over the belt I will tuck that in a little, or a red zit at the end of the nose I will remove that...little things that make a big difference. Often times with family sessions I even swap heads if I can make a picture look better and wont tell you, because I want you to have the best looking photos possible. So I WILL and DO go the extra mile for you...I want you to look at your photo and say damn I looked good that day not omg she photoshopped me too much. But everyones idea of editing is different..Im finding people are expecting the edit process to make them come out looking like a model on a magazine cover...I dont like to do too much airbrushing..I do middle of the road as like I said everyones idea is different and what pleases one isnt necessarily what pleases another...I also wouldnt want to offend someone if I took something out that they didnt want gone. But lately Ive been asked to do some MAJOR editing..This takes hours..literally. Im going to have to start charging for my time to do this. I dont mind and want you to be happy, but when Im asked to make someone 3 sizes smaller, or take out every single wrinkle, etc this takes time..in order to keep my prices reasonable for everyone, I have to charge only the ones that are asking to have it done. Im running into it more and more and suddenly an $80 session has turned around to give me a profit margin of $0. I hope everyone understands, I really do want happy clients and want you to come back! If you ask to have any major editing done Im going to charge $20/hour for this service. This is only if you ask me to do something special. I remember years ago I went to a photographer and had photos done and I had an acne break out on my chin...when my proofs came I asked if I could have the acne taken out..the photographer said yes..but with a charge of $15 per proof. I feel I have a good relationship with my clients so if you feel you would like some more editing done discuss it with me and we can go from there...Let me know your thoughts/feedback.
