Good morning everyone...Im back from a weekend away from the rat race! Had a quick getaway with my family and friends to Felda Residence Tekam in Jerantut district. The stay was a birthday gift to my wife from her friend Angie and Cindy Lim. Our thanks for your gift, ladies! As usual,breakfast was the start of the journey and we ended up in Bentong for lunch. Had a great meal of Ikan Tapah (aka Monkey eater), and other dishes which was more then satisfying! Continued the journey through Raub and took the trunk road to Jerantut taking in the kampung scenes and slow lifestyles. On the way in to Tekam, evidence of the last great flood was everywhere with water marks as high as 10 feet on building walls and river flora! Checked in around 4.30pm and was directed to two chalets. Trees everywhere and distance from the resort facilities like swimming pools and dining facilities made this a comfortable stay as they were hosting Pos Malaysias family day! The chalets were comfortable enough with facilities like air-conditioning and water heater showers. Beds were comfortable and clean but the best view was a clear night with a star studded sky! Day Two started a bit late as we took the opportunity to sleep in a while before preparing breakfast. After breakfast the guys took the fishing rods for a bit of recreational fishing at the main pond. At first glance, there were no ripples nor wakes of any kind to indicate there were actually fish in the waters but after casting around with the lures, to our surprise we were hitting Sebaraus left and right....not big ones but juveniles. Had we had more time then the allotted 2 hours and continued fishing, I am sure we would have have managed to land a bigger one...as the saying goes,Where there are small ones, there are big ones! Checked out at 12pm and proceeded back to Bentong for our date with an Ikan Kerai; one of the local river fishes that we have yet to savour! Accompanying it is wild goat fried with ginger and spring onions and other dishes. Stopped by Kow Po on the way back for some home made ice cream and reached PJ at 5pm.
