Weather Situation: A high in the Tasman Sea is expected to remain near stationary while slowly strengthening towards the weekend, maintaining a firm ridge over Queensland. An upper trough over the central interior will weaken as it drifts eastwards today, contracting off the east coast during Friday. Forecast for the rest of Thursday: The upper trough should drift towards the east coast and it, along with a persistent onshore flow, should maintain isolated to scattered showers about the eastern districts, with a chance of storms about the central coasts and northeast tropics. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder of the state.
