Weather Situation: A high near Tasmania is moving slowly northeast and is expected to shift into the Tasman Sea during Friday, maintaining a ridge across Queensland. An upper level trough lies over the southern interior and is expected to strengthen today before moving off the southeast coast on Friday. A second, weak upper trough will pass through southern Queensland over the weekend. Forecast for the rest of Thursday: Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over southeastern Queensland, with showers tending scattered near the coast. Isolated showers about Cape York Peninsula. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Light to moderate south to southeast winds, fresh about parts of the east coast.
