Good morning everyone. New day and I feel so much better!! But - TopicsExpress

Good morning everyone. New day and I feel so much better!! But they will not let me leave the hospital until tomorrow after the morning rounds. Given I am still operating with a low immune system they have to monitor me to make sure my fever doesnt spike again and wait for cultures and tests to come back to see if I have something viral or bacterial. Theres not much that can be done for a viral infection except wait it out and honestly I feel better now. I dont feel like I could run around the park etc.. and do laps like I did between other rounds but i do feel good. My doctor told me that this round was tougher on my body and rebounding and recovering would take a lot longer. But you cant play around with fevers when your immune system is compromised. The fevers can climb quickly and given it took more than 2 hours to get here we needed to get on the road and make sure i was in a safe place. The good news is the fever went away -- first time i had a fever just disappear. Maybe it was Tracey Parent calming music on the way here.. :) I miss Gabriel like crazy and didnt like how I had to sneak out of the house yesterday but I want to be strong for him. Im over cautious after what ive seen the past 8 months and refuse to let something bad happen that can be controlled like a fever. Again, if someone with normal counts had a cold or a viral infection it would just be annoying.. but for me if untouched could be bad and I have no time for that. The best part... I do know Im in a great place. When you hear me talk about rounds.. its quite a sight here. Im not sure what other hospitals do but here its impressive. Every morning a team studies your case and goes into your room with their game plan. This morning about 8 people came in... You have 4 doctors (intern, fellow, resident and the main doctor -the attending) AND the nurse, a physicians assistant, a social worker and sometimes the doctor working on clinical trials. They discuss your case.. you have so many minds working to make sure you have the best plan then they come in and see you and discuss what is next. Tomorrow if there are no fevers and my tests come back that the virus can be managed... i get to go home. Amen.
