Good morning everyone! Today in 1904, Earl Grey was appointed governor general of Canada. He had been a member of the British House of Commons and then administrator of Rhodesia. Grey served as governor general from 1904-11. In 1909, he donated the Grey Cup for the Canadian football championship. Also today in 1958, Prime Minister John Diefenbaker became the first Canadian leader to visit the Yukon while in office and in 2008, a commission of inquirys report into the David Milgaard case concluded that the criminal justice system failed him.
